Hi all going to start a new 57gallon rimless tank build soon. Gathering up everything and now it’s time for saving up for lighting. With The tank being 36inches wide was leaning to 2 AI hydra 32 hd or do you think one reefi duo extreme would cover. If the one reefi would work and still give me the par to grow coral could save some cash and have a pretty cool light from what I have read an seen on the reefi. would like to know any thoughts on this?

Have you read this thread ?

The Reefi Duo will provide way more than enough light to grow coral, but I'm less sure about how well it would do covering the 36" width. I've dealt with Daniel at Reefi back when he did his first led fixture (a pendant). We had some issues with the 3D printed case and he bent over backwards to help me out.

I love the looks of the new Reefi Duo, but like you, my new tank (just setting it up) is a 90g rimless (36"x30"x20"). And I have a 24" Reef Breeder Photon V2+ that I know will cover the 36" width AND grow coral well. I've had it over my 40g cube for almost 2 years. So I'm really hard pressed to consider spending the money for a Reefi Duo that may not cover 36" as well as I would like. And the Photon V2+ is also a very good looking fixture which does sunrise/sunset and has 6 channel color control.

The one think I will say about the Reefi fixture is that I wasn't a big fan of the wifi control. It was pretty cumbersome and even had too much control and took too long to program. The Photon V2+ isn't the best remote to program either, but it was considerably better than the Reefi system... at least as it was 2 years ago.

You should send Daniel an email and ask him for PAR values out at the edges of a 36" wide tank. If he doesn't know the numbers, he has customers who probably do. And I'd be willing to share PAR levels with the Photon V2+ once I have saltwater in my new tank (within the next few days if all tests go well). BTW, there is a link to my build thread for the 90g tank listed below in my signature.
