I have two Aquaknight A029’s sitting on top of my glass lid. I originally planned on mounting them, but the mount doesn’t work on rimmed tanks. I want to put the lights in the dead middle of the tank, but there’s a strip for the lid hinge that blocks it from happening.

If I have it in the front, the back gets no light and the tank. If the light is in the back, the tank overall is lit up well but the coral don’t get any light. I’ve had it in the front for 4 months now and it works, but I’m not happy with it.

Any way I can get around that strip? Do they make glass lids without it or a clear one? Mounting ideas? Help!

I thought of pushing the rock to the back wall, but then there’s a huge blank space I don’t know how to fill in.

If the lights were mounted higher you wouldn't have the low light issue in the middle like that. I'd find another method to raise them up a little.

Raise your lights (hang from ceiling or figure out a DIY solution) and replace the lid with a mesh one.

you could be reducing the life of your lights by keeping them on the glass like that.

The only thing I dislike about the mesh lid is that then I need to get an ATO, I have almost no evaporation with my lid. Is there a way around that?

With coral that also means less gas exchange and lower Ph than a mesh lid. I have a 90g, no lid and no ATO. You can make anything work =)
