Just bought a Hydra 52 LED light for my 45g tank.

Will start corals after my cycling period.

Any tips?

Haven’t made my schedule yet.

My best advice is to start out low and work your intensity up slowly. And make sure to acclimate all corals to avoid bleaching :)

Awesome! Low as in low percentage or height?

Got a couple more weeks to ducks then will start slowly with corals
Low as in intensity percentages. Starting out to high can shock corals that aren't used to it and not acclimated to your specific lighting :)

Looks good. How are you controlling it? The AI controller has an acclimation mode if I reme, beer correctly. When you start adding corals, as crabs said, you may need to lower your intensity to acclimate the corals. That can be determined by the lights on the tank the corals come from.

Wow great tip thanks! I wanted to do soft corals to start off with. Any suggestions on which soft corals to start with?
Absolutely :) mushrooms, zoanthids, toadstools are all great starters. Also different types of polyps such as pulsing xenia or green star polyps, just be sure to keep them on their own separate rock as they'll spread quickly and can take over a tank and choke out other corals.

Yes there is a acclimate mode. Not familiar how to use it though. Light came with no instructions.

I have a bit of rock in the tank so I’ll be sure they get there own! Sounds good!! Thanks I’ll look into those!

Welcome to R2R, and the community
Question, did you get the HD's or the regular Hydra lights?
Do not run them high, you burn up the corals, I really like my Hydra 26hd's and my corals really took of when switching to the lights. I can post my seclude if you would like later?

Yea it’s HD. Is yours the same height? Yea what percentages do you use??

There are two different kinds of Hydra's. One is the Hydra, older generations and the Hydra HD's which are the newer lights. This make a difference what percentage one uses.
