Hi,

I've got two Gen 3 pro Radion xr30w light units for my new tank. I had a red sea 250 with their built in t5 lighting on my old tank which is a mixed reef but leaning towards mainly sps.

I have got the high growth schedule from the ecotech templates set at the minute adjusted to 40% with a 6 week acclimation period. Obviously there's almost no end of tweaks you can make with these lights but I don't feel that I have the knowledge to know what the best settings would be that I not only find attractive to look at but more importantly that provides the reef inhabitants with the lighting they need for good health.

Can anyone give me any guidance about this please?

Thanks for any help with this, Di

It's set to be at 40% intensity at the end of the acclimation period as I've heard a lot of people have had problems moving from the t5s to the radions with corals being bleached if they're much higher. I'd welcome any other advice though if that's not the best way to set them.
Thanks Di

I have my gen 2 pros set at 40% for 2 hours a day with ramp up and ramp down averaged at about 35% and sps is doing decent

On my 50 gallon lps/sps tank I started at 35% and using the acclimation program it went to 65% over 4 weeks.
My 233 mixed softy/lps/sps tank I did pretty much the same.

Hi, Thanks for that.

Have you got a copy of your light schedule that I could have a look at. Have you had any problems with the corals been burnt or bleached with the 65% intensity?

Do you know anything about which colours or wavelengths are essential for the corals, which can enhance certain colour pigments in the corals or any that can be problematic?

Thanks for any advice, Di

I have always been told you will get the most growth at 10k. Not sure how much more growth though. I may eventually eliminate the 20k and go with 10k when I'm not home and 14k when I am.

I don't know how to post my schedule.
I have found that some euphlyia will bleach a little when placed too high, while some of my green sinularia do not at the same height.
