So I currently have a. Lohminir astra marine led that has been good for about a year. It keeps having a issue where it keeps going full power. I have been looking to upgrade to something a little better. Was looking at the aquarit life t5 hybrid but its a little big for a 12g cube or maybe the kessil a80 .Does anyone have any suggestions for something that wont break the bank.

How about putting a couple short T5 on an 45 degree angle, then put 2 cheap LED on opposing corners.
That might make it so that you can fit the longer T5 bulbs on a narrower tank.

Another option is to get a used (or new) black box LED, dim it and use a diffuser under it.

Or a cheap 150 MH fixture. (Easiest to implement but hardest to get color right)

Those are the paths I would explore.

did not think of it but hanging the t5s at a 45 degree angle should work. 24inch at 45 degree angle should fit well :)

when it comes to t5ho I am guessing it is 2 10k bulbs and 2 actinic bulbs correct? Would that mean that in a Led fixture you would want similar lighting? at full power with red and blue lights at 20% and blue, ultra violet and white at full blast the corals are not as colorful is this normal? should I keep it at full power?

This is what I am currently using
