I have a 10g tank that I am pressing into service for my office. I currently have a Marineland Double-Bright LED light on it (as this was previously my Q-Tank, not for a coral tank). While I could use this for shrooms and leathers, the color is probably close to 6500KK and washes everything out. I recently bought a PAR38 chinese bulb on ebay just to see what it could do, and while I like the colors, the optics are so narrow to as to only light one end of the tank. I will probably use it later on a fuge.

So, I would like an inexpensive (relatively) light for a 10g. Perhaps CFL or T5 would do. Even HO, or VHO fluorescents would work if I can get the right color and it would support mushrooms, zoas, and leathers. Any suggestions?

You could get 4 cfl from petco DIY a canopy for it. They have 50/50 and blue. Or DIY led light from aquastyleonline.com pretty cheap place for LEDs
