I currently have a pair of 3 year old Rapid LED Onyx LED Fixtures that I run on a timer. They work, but I've started to notice some shadowing as my corals have grown. The fixtures are about 10" above the waterline I'm also seeing some disco ball effects. I think lights will be my next upgrade. So...

I have a 90 gallon SPS Reef with a canopy that limits the light's height off the water to 10-12 inches. Heat is also an issue. The tank already runs 3-5 degrees above ambient. I'd like to be able to ramp the lights up and down and modify spectrum. I don't have a controller.

What type of lights, brands, models and how many would be a suitable upgrade for my tank. What would be the best way to mount them? Etc.? An information or advice would be valuable. Thanks.

The new AI hydras might be for your taste if you want to control all of the colors. I've also heard good things about noopsych k7 pro II. They are significantly cheaper.

Reef Breeders Photon V2 is another option. They are reasonably priced and extremely powerful lights, with full user control and a two year warranty.

I ran a 48" light for nearly two years at 70% power and the cooling fans never kicked on and was only ever warm to the touch. The top of the entire fixture is a giant heatsink and only got to about 85F compared to the 110+ for my Hydra26's.
