Hey everyone,

So some of my corals are not growing or very slow, and I have a favia of the gods the seems like it's receeded some. My tank is a 4ft frag tank. The light is a black box led 12 inches off the water line, and the 9inches depth to the coral rack. I've only been running the lights (especially the black box) on blues only for the most part. All my parameters seem good, a little low on some but thats about it. In regards to favia's, or the favia of the gods anyone got suggested requirements?
salinity 1.024
temp 77.4
calcium 381
alkalinity 8.1
ph 8.4
nitrate 5.0 ppm
mag 1275
phospahte .50 - 1.0ppm

Thanks,
Dan

So I definitely want to upgrade and know the black box don't spread well like others. Maybe I'll go with kessils. I forgot to mention I was also using red sea reef light and initially i loked it because it was easy to use but one of them started randomly flickering, not even 6 months of use. The flicker is random and i caught just walking by my tank and then it happend again at a later point.

I have found the big variable is generally food. Its the one area which remains a bit elusive for me and I think for many species of corals and other inverts. Some corals have highly specialised feeding requirements that we struggle to emulate and it can be a bit hit or miss.

IMO I feel all favites corals are slow growers. I also found this interesting article on favia & favites.
