I have an aquaticlife edge led reef edition light. not sure how good they are but the last couple times I go to my LFS that carries them there sold out with a couple days every time. but I have noticed I don't have good coral growth. I have my lights at the back of the tank. which is my problem I think. I thought about hanging them from the ceiling or just draining my tank since I need to do a WC. I don't want to drain my whole tank. but I usually do a 16 to 20 gallon wc every week to 2 weeks. I think I would get better growth if I have the lights in the middle. in order to do that I will need to drain my tank enough to move my HOB skimmer to the back. to do that I will need to move the tank and stand a inch to 1.5 inches out more. no big deal. will I harm my bacteria or my frags if I do this. I plan on emptying no more than 16 gallons down the drain then 20 gallons into bucket and keep the rest in the tank. with three people I think we should be able to move it out that far from the wall to relocate my skimmer. but will the position of the lights being in the middle to distribute it more evenly be better than in the back where the back of the tank will get the most light. will it help with coral growth. If it might help I will do that. I also just purchased a pair of sb reef lights that I can hang but don't want to do that quite yet. I wanna try this. what are your thought on moving the light to the middle for better or even distribution of the light than being on the back side of the tank. before asking about the my parameter. mg ca alk and pO4 and ph levels . there all within proper range although PO4 can be lower than what it is (.2) but that shouldn't be that much of a big deal. although I realize .02 is more exceptable. I ordered GFO to run through my system and will monitor the reduction to proper levels of PO4. I tried the front of the tank for a few short hours. but Just didn't like how it looked in the front. what are your thought on moving the light to the middle for better or even distribution of the light than being on the back side of the tank.
