Hi All,

Im picking up my first fish for my tank today, theres no coral in there at all so far, I am just wondering about lighting schedules.

Should I be putting the light on at all for my fish atm? Or should I hold off until I get coral?

How old is the tank? If has been setup for a little while you could have a 6hr lighting schedule. Without any coral the lights are only serve to let you view the fish. This will allow some algae growth and then you could look to purchase a few snails and hermits for cleaning purposes.

Tank is only just cycled. 4 weeks old

I would say a 6-8 hour cycle is good. Enough to let algae grow but not enough to cause an explosion of growth.
Thanks mate! Do you know of any ai prime hd lighting schedules for that 6 hour bracket I could use at all? Will save me a lot of fiddling!!

I would reckon that the AI's don't have such a setting readily on hand. However it could be simple to have about 65% blue light and around 25%-30% white light on a 6 hour schedule. I wish I could tell you there was a setting but unfortunately I'm not sure there is one...

Cheers,

Nigel

Alternatively you could run a longer lighting schedule with less white light and more blue to combat algae growth. I believe there is a setting with very little white and a lot of blue.
