I recently purchased a 120 gallon standard tank, stand and canopy with my goal to have an sps dominant tank. Due to my young son's desire to throw any and everything he can into his sisters freshwater tank, buying the canopy was a must.

My goal is to have a T5 and LED hybrid because I love the way the combo looks. Im planning on using some of the retrofit T5 fixtures from BRS with some LED's. I wanted to use some of the flat LEDs (like the AP700) to have better light spread, but a couple Kessil 360w cannisters fell into my lap at a great price that I could not pass up.

My question is how many kessil 360w do you think I should plan on using for a 48" x 24" x 24" tank that will also have ~4 T5 bulbs ( the kessils would be at most 8-10" off water)? I'm leaning toward 3 total but I need some guidance. I'd like to have a bit of plan before I just start drilling holes and hanging my current 2 kessils just to hate their coverage.

What types of corals will you be keeping? A softie, Lps, or mixed reef with some sps two a360s would be fine. If you're going to venture more into the sps world you'll want three :)

SPS on the rock structure with maybe a few Softies or LPS on a rock islands or in shadier spots.

3 seems like it would be right, but I just need some encouragement.
