lighting question

Would this work on a 40 gallon breeder tank? Would I need 2 or will one do it? Planning on keeping zoas and softies but would like to have enough if I decide I want some sps. Thanks in advance!

I was never crazy about 1 W LED's. Their penetration stinks. Even for a 40B, I'd want to see 3 W LEDs on it.


I just put one of these Mars Aqua's over my tank and I'm impressed....for all of $78 with free shipping. This would rock a 40B.

Well for what its worth, you'd only need one.
But for that price you could get twice the light, and very very complete coverage, using 2 of these units.

I like those in the link. Wish it mounted over the tank but I guess hanging it would be fine. How far off the water would it need to be?

@Reefing Madness, you would only need one of these fixtures over a 40B.

@Krak3n, because it comes with lenses, you'd probalbly have to hang at least 12 to 18 inches over the tank.

8-10" will do ya nicely. You can make a nice piece to sit on the tank. Theres some good threads on here about hanging those lights.
