Does the amount of time your lights stay on matter? Are the able to stay on 24-7? Right now I turn mine on in the morning and off at night. Should them just be dimmed at night? If so I don't have the option of just dimming them. The reason fot asking is because lately when lights go off my green mushrooms shrivel up..

My mushrooms do the same thing, but open up again in the morning as soon as the lights come on. I have mine set on timers, with a blue moon light on overnight. Leaving the lights on 24/7 isn't good for the fish (they need the night/day cycle) and will give you more issues with algae build up.

Do you need the blue moon light? My lighting only has the option of on or off?

I actually have 3 sets of lights on my tank. I have an LED strip that is the blue moon light, and then I have 2 T5 fixtures. One is running 2 actinic bulbs, and the other is running 10,000K. This was supposed to be a temporary set up, but it has been running like this for over a year now.
