I am running (2) Mars Aqua (dual channeled) over my tank and I'm looking for a way to get them on a timer for a more consistent lighting schedule. With them being dual channeled they are already eating up 4 outlets on my 8 outlet power bar. Any timer that I have come across at local hardware stores are somewhat bulky and would partially cover neighboring outlets and eat up even more space. What is your (non apex/keeper/controller) set up like? Any suggestions on low profile timers that don't eat up space? Let's hear some ideas!

What I have done prior to getting an apex is plugged a second power strip into one plug on that original powerstrip and spread the timers out on it. But you have to remember that regardless of the new extra space the original powerstrip will likely only handle 15 amps so do not over load or you will trip the strips breaker. Good luck

I'll have to give that a shot! I wouldn't be adding any extra items than what's currently plugged in (other than the extra power strip).
I have often thought about purchasing an apex system, but I don't know if it would be worth the cost for the set up I have.

Often the digital timers are "slimmer" than the big analog rotary timers. Spending the extra $5-10 bucks on the digitial timer will give you a smaller footprint for the timer itself (thus not blocking other outlets). Then I plugged in a 3 way splitter into my digital timer for my leds so they were all on the same outlet and timer. For LEDs you shouldnt have a problem pulling too much power through the outlet.

Please make sure the power strip is a good one and you might also try out a wemo all switch. You can control when they are on and off more, and do it remotely.
