Lighting Question

I have a 75 gallon tank (4 feet by about 18-20" tall)
I have the viparspectra 300w light you posted earlier and I love it. You dont have to light every inch of your tank. That light fades out a little dimmer at the edges of my tank but I dont mind. I'm not going to cramp it full of corals end to end. AND oddly enough I happened to have had the current orbit light before I got the viparspectra. It was fine for my LPS corals but not enough for an anemone. It has 1/2 watt LEDs as opposed to the 3w leds that the black boxes have, and far fewer of them. I got a bubble tip a few weeks ago that loves the viparspectra light and hosts my mated pair of oscellaris. Most black boxes are similar in output, I like the viparspectra because of the timers, price point and ratings/testimonials of people I've seen here on the forum. I keep my light about 14" above the aquarium to spread the light out a bit, and I only need it at about 25% power and the nem seems happy. It has not moved since I placed it. I did a lot of the same research you're doing now before I got my anemone. Individual clownfish personalities vary of course, but in my case my male was trying to be hosted by all my other corals which didnt like it, and when I got the anemone the clownfish found it within about 3 or 4 days. It's much more fun to watch them in an anemone than in corals, it seems much more natural to them and they dig around in it, and do their mating dances way more than they did before I had the nem. I think that pretty much covers it, your situation seems pretty similar to mine. Hope this helps!

Almost immediately I believe after few hours they was already over my bubble and condy like nothing .... That's what I say before a lot has to do with your fish too . I went to youtube and i saw a video of how to host your clown and nem and it was really neat, I didn't need it but always looking and checking things to learn, but this guy had a clear tube and what he did was to put the tube over the nem and put the clown thru the clear tube and let him swim down to get to the nem and he automatically got comfortable with the nem and hosted.
As far as ik my clowns haven’t built up that resistible slime so if they get stung, using that method, wouldn’t they be afraid of it?

Thanks for all the info!

What kind of nem do u have?

So u suggest the black box?

And does that lay on the tank or hang from the ceiling? I think u need a stand but not sure?

Also I am surprised the coral didn’t need more light than the Coral...

Green bubble tip anemone with purple ends. I put pics and video in my last post, maybe mods have to approve, not sure. The light is suspended from the cieling. I wouldn't set it on the tank, for one because it has fans and vents that could get splashed in, and also because its plenty powerful and when you put an LED fixture too close to the water you get a "disco effect"- lots of individual colors flashing around on the sand and rocks rather than natural looking light. It comes with cables and clips. You have to mount it with your own hardware in the surface you wish to use. Some people mount pipes on the wall studs and hang it from that, I chose to fix a mounting board to my cieling joists and put eye hooks in the board. That way it's not just hanging from the plaster ceiling.

Yeah I didn’t c above the light though sry

My problem with that is my tank is in the middle of the of our living room-kitchen and
A: wouldn’t be ideal or look good in the area
B: the ceiling is pretty high
C: it is a, more less, permanent thing.

Would something like this work

Uhmmmmm I didn't thought about that, good point but normally once they host each other I haven't seen no problem at all, the risk is if your fish try to host a condy and the condy it's not to happy about it, them he can get stung yes but not only that but end up been a great lunch as I mention before, just give them some time and watch, I have some that I has put on my tank previously and they didn't want nothing to do with my nems but after few hours they got closer to the nem and explore and watch until continue to get more closer to it, I may say it could take minutes and up to few days. If they don't host then they wasn't meant to be.

I want to share this with you:

This are tricks but your nem should host the nem normally on its own when you fish wants to. Good Luck

I could use a power head and put a small rock in the opposite way that he could scoot onto?

Good Morning... yes i found that one pretty neat I think I would try that one if I need it... Good Luck!
The good thing about it is I don’t have to worry about water comditions since it is still in the tank
