lighting question

although I'm not new to reef but still in the first year. everyone posts that the most expensive thing to run on an reef tank is the lighting. which might be true. but I don't see it at where I live. yes my electric bill is high. but it's electric and gas combined. I don't believe that my electric bill has gone up for the electric side of it. but my gas has been through the roof since april of last year. this past year it's been extremely hot and this winter extremely cold. so if some how the electric is using gas please educate me... my local electric company breaks it down on the bill.

I don't think there's any way this is fish related, but you should really call the utility company and have them check for a gas leak if you saw a sudden spike for no reason
