You Hey guys I have this light from my tank and I was wondering to start a reef tank would this provide the right light for corals and anemones. It has a light spectrum graph what should I be looking for? I want I light but don't wanna break the back my tank is 29 gallons 30 long and around 14 deep and 18 tall any help is greatly appreciated thanks! I wish I could show you guys a picture but I don't know how to upload one...

What is the light ya have?
And the good news is, theres a LOT of choices out there now for the $.

It's a marine land led strip light has a day and night mode it's very basic but I was wondering if it would do the job to start out at least and I'm not to sure what light to even get if I upgrade

If you can post the model or can find it and give the link I can take a look. But more than likely(if its a reef light) it'll be fine for a lot stuff till you look around and learn a little more about lights, coral, Par etc.

Yea thats fine if its what you have. The big thing is PAR, and how much each animal needs to thrive. Like all things many lower priced lights may have less power and to some extent spectrum.

This gets a bit technical, but you'll learn quite a bit by skimming the article as well.

The Nem wount like the amount of light that will deliver. Youll want to look into lower light corals to start.
Itll give you time to learn the basic husbandry and tank care stuff plus a little chemistry. And Nems do like a more mature tank.

Def poke around the threads and stickies here on R2r. Also one of our friends here is Melev. Def a good read.

So basically I have to do research and find low light stuff until I get a new light?
