I need recommendations for lighting for a 90 gallon mixed reef tank. Due to its size I assume I would need 2 lights? Currently I am using a Current Loop system and am not pleased with it.

Thanks

With a 90 your definitely correct about the 2 lights. There’s literally so many options for lighting and different factors so I guess it really depends on your budget and what you want out of the tank. Personally I’ve tried a lot and I’m a huge eco tech fan. It’s night and day how fast my corals grow and how colorful they are under Radions compared to every other light. And I believe the fact that basically every coral farm ever uses them says a lot. I think two XR15 would be perfect for that tank. Although they are very expensive, I think they are worth it.

Do you want LED for sure, or is T5 or MH an option?

What is your budget? What features do you want? What corals do you want to keep?

Let’s reboot this thread. Same thing here except 75 gal. Not trying to brake the bank I was think 3 of the Red Sea reef light 90s. Any thoughts

You only need 2 of the 90's on that size tank. I however don't like the spectrum of the 90's. Its either neon indoor mini golf or a not very impressive daylight look.

You can compliment the fluval bars with two orphek OR3- 120 (1- sky blue and 1 blue plus) for a beautiful PAR and effect

What price range? Do you plan on hanging the light or using mounting arms? Any opinions on shimmer? Controlability preferences?
Prolly around 1000, mounting arms, not a ton of shimmer I have 2 older primes and it looks like a disco ball in my tank. As much controllability as possible

Two radion xr15 g6 would be top of the line but the g5 are on clearance too. I think they would be about 1100 give or take with the mounting arms. You can always add on to them down the road. There are definitely cheaper options too. Noopsyches may be a good choice but I have no clue how their color blending is (you can ask on another thread). That would save you a ton. I am not a fan of AI lights.

Do you think two of the Xr15 g6 would be enough for a 75gal sps dominate tank

So you could get away with one sky from Neptune for that size tank. I run kessils. Those are very close to 1000 maybe a tad more for lights controller and mounting arms. Radions are going to be around the same price and very good options as well.

I have three 90s over a tank of this size and like them, and it should work for any type of coral if placed right.

I have to add that I am adding supplemental lights to the front (LED bar) and back (single T5) in my canopy. The T5 is to add spectrum/coverage I feel LEDs miss, and the front LED light is to get light coming more from the viewing angle.

My tank canopy was originally full of T5s, and coming from that I can definitely say I think that point source lights across the center of a tank do not provide the coverage I am used to (and shadowing in places I am not used to). In other tank dimensions and aqua scaping, that may work, but not in my tank.
