I am having a difficult time settling on lighting for my 180 acrylic. The problem is its bracing at the top blocking light and reducing PAR at the bottom 30" down. The bracing makes it difficult to light, clean and maneuver rock. The goal is a sps mixed tank but halides run hot and the acrylic is a perfect insulator to hold in heat. Any suggestions before I keep the equipment and go glass?

What kind of lights are you thinking of using? How large is the center brace?

Have you considered arranging the rock into two separate 'islands'? By placing the rock to either side of the center brace, the effects of the center brace would be minimal.
