So I have a 32g biocube. I work overnights sunday thru wednesday. Leave my house at 7pm get home between 9-930 am. Thursday thru sunday I have my kids. On my days off I typically keep my same sleep schedule or close to it. So I'm up most of the night. My kids are hit or miss. With no school they tend to stay up at night.

I'm kinda wondering what might end up being the best lighting schedule. For my viewing pleasure lights would be on at night. But for the fish it is never dark at my house. So house lights and stuff it's always got a bit of lights going on one way or another.

No coral at the moment but likely within a month. Planning on mostly zoas maybe some torches or hammer down the road.

Thoughts?

Ideally, you want to provide an environment where the fish/eventual coral can have darkness- it doesn't need to be pitch black, but probably darker than you currently have it. Ideally, you could move the biocube into a room that can go dark during the day, but if this isn't possible, have you thought about covering the tank? Obviously you want to make sure the cover doesn't restrict air movement too much, but I did something similar with a nanocube I had set up in a lab with people coming and going.
