The light you need depends on several things, but most importantly, what would you like to keep in the tank?

With the answer to this question, we can determine the light intensity you need in the tank. This is caller PAR.

PAR demands of the coral you'd like to grow will determine how much PAR you will need at the bottom of the tank to be successful. And how much PAR you will need narrow down your choices of lighting.

its a mixed reef tank of lps and sps corals

What light are you running now?

I run a 48 inch aquatic lif T5 hybrid 4x54w and 3 kessil A360WE on my heavily stocked 48 x 24 x 12 lagoon mixed reef...

Ati makes a dimmable 6 bulb t5 fixture that is also pretty nice.

I’d say a 6-bulb t5ho fixture or two viparspectra LEDS would be good and affordable choices that’ll grow most corals well.

I would keep everything as is until you can get your final lighting choice.

Thanx i might go with the viparspectras. Thank you for your response!!!
I switched from a 48” 6-bulb that was growing acropora well over my 55g to three viparspectra’s on my 187g (needed more coverage) and those same acros are growing well on 20% white & 50% blue. You won’t be disappointed with either option.

I had black boxes for a while and they will grow anything. I didn't care for how it looked though. Made everything look washed out and out of focus.
