I am upgrading to a 90 gallon aquarium. I have some fish and soft corals that grow well. I don’t expect to move to hard corals.

I currently own a mars aqua 165 watt 55 bulb led light. I was going to buy a second but they are at least double the price they used to be so I’m not sure that’s an option.
I am looking to buy a used light locally. There are some orbit marine 48” lights that are a good price.
So I have a few questions.
1. Is there any chance my current light is good enough?
2. Would the 48” orbit light work for this size tank?
3. Will a combo of lights work? I don’t want this to look all crappy but I also don’t have a canopy so all the lights will be exposed.

Essentially I didn’t do my homework on the lighting side of this project and I’m worried about my budget
Thanks

Get a second mars and call it a day. Plenty fine for softies and stuff.

I didn’t really like your advice but I took it any way thanks

My current mars aqua has been a really good light so it does make sense to order a second. Ordered it this morning.

One of the few mature people on this board... in general life, as well as in this hobby, the advice that you don't like is often the one that you need to listen to the most.

The pair of Mars is a lot better than an orbit, IMO.

Hey hey hey, who are you calling mature??? Hahaha! It was great advice and I appreciate your opinion that 2 mars are better than 1 orbit.
Cheers!

So, the drama continues. These lights aren’t available!! Ordered and paid on both ebay and alibaba and had my order cancelled.

Bummer.

There are similar 'black box' type LED fixtures out there. Viparspectra is another popular one.

Thanks. I was looking at one of those. I really want to have a matched set but budget is more important than looks right now so I am going to do some more research on those.
