Hello,
Looking for lighting suggestions that are worth purchasing, but not necessarily top of the line.
I have a 90g tank that, for the past 4 years has been running on a current timer pro light - so I realize its not good - but up until now it wasn't something I was ready to address. (I purchased the whole system used). I have mostly "easy" corals that I inherited (kenya tree, zoas, duncans, candy cane coral) along with mushrooms. Nrprisingly, they don't really grow much, just kind of maintain their size. I've had the corals for 4 years and the mushrooms for 1 1/2. As of late, the mushrooms have been shrinking, along with corals AND my long tentacle anenome, and so I am in the process of ruling out the "why" and in that process I figured I'd upgrade my lighting to not only rule that in our out, but just as much because it is something that I've needed to do and now I have more motivation.
I run low nutrient and try to dose phosphate but admittedly I've been slacking lately. I am not sure if that is the cause for all of my coral and anenome to be shrinking though - since what I've read up on states that anenomes don't need phosphates. Also, for what its worth, the anenome hasn't moved in 4 years so I would like to think its ok with the spot its in?
Are there specifc trace elements that I am possibly missing out on that would lead to shrinking corals AND anenome? I know that's not a lighting question, but while I'm on the topic.
I'm not
dKH was low also, around 6-7 if I remember off hand - I'm slowly bringing it up. Any suggestions including lighting would be appreciated. My #1 focus is on the fish/nem, but I'd like to be able to maintain and grow some easier corals.
