Hello...I have a 65g reef tank. Currently I have a Marineland reef ready LED light. Its ok but I'm thinking if I upgrade I can get some better color and growth. The problem...I know nothing about lights. I know I'd like to stay with LEDS. I'm also thinking about how I would hang them because I don't want to hang them from the seiling. I've got some ideas for that however I would appreciate any help/options I can get. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

I have two AI Vega's over a 90 Gallon, and couldn't be happier! Their customer service is top notch, and the finish and qaulity of their products is excellent!! I have mostly LPS, but I have TONS of it, and everything is growing very, very well so far! I've had them over my tank for 5 months now.

I am quite sure someone will be chiming in to tell you to go with Radions... Another awesome choice, just a bit more expensive.. 650-900 per module, vs 500 per module on the Vega's.

Happy researching!

EDIT : Aqua Illumination has a couple different options for mounting. Haning, brackets on the wall, and their rails... They are also releaseing their Director controller very soon.. This will allow the user to be able to control the lights from laptop, Iphone, and Android devices.

Thank-you all for the help. I definately have some research to do and I appreciate a starting point. The one thing I like about my current light is that it has a timer so I don't need to do anything with it to go on and off. Does anyone have experience with this on other LED's or would the timer have to be seperate?

I would highly encourage you to look at the PacificSun leds.

We use them on all of our tanks, and have a very very positive experience.

They have built in controllers and you can program them using your computer via Bluetooth. Also they have spider mounting kits available that look very sleek and modern if hanging from the ceiling is not an option.

Feel free to pm/email me if you'd like some more information and/or have any questions regarding them.

Thanks!

Thank-you Archit...I'll contact you if I have specific questions and thank-you Kes for the suggestion. I didn't realize there were so many options...I certainly have lots of research to do!

If you want good quality equipment and more affordable prices, we carry the EverGrow line of led fixtures and there are 16", 24" and 32" versions that have built in controller/timers. With these you can run 24/7 with sunrise and sunset as well as adjustable moonlights for overnight. They can be set up to change either or both channels every 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Feel free to ask questions about our OceanRevive fixture or the EverGrow line up in our Sponsorship Forum here on R2R (see below) or at our website.

The evergrow LEDs are the first leds at a such a low price point that I have been impressed with and I am a halide fan but recently bought one of these LEDs for the center of my 150 to experiment

Glad I found this thread, I run T5's right now and have been wanting to switch to LEDs but never knew which was a good price but also works perfectly. The guys at the LFS all have there opions but most of the time there trying to sell you the most expensive one to make $$. When the models you guys are talking about are $500 and sound like they get the job done.

I used MH over 3 of my 4 tanks for about 5 years (the other was t5). About 8 months ago I switched to all EverGrow leds and they have been just what I wanted, quality light, well made fixtures and reasonably priced. A few months ago I switched out my EG D120 over my frag tank for an OceanRevive A026 and liked it even better than the EG D120. Now both my frag tank and QT/local stock are OceanRevive S026 fixtures. Why spend more when you can get good quality at reasonable prices? Here is my 180g sps, lps & softie tank as of a couple months ago. The corals are even bigger now!

I am considering the OR artic-S026 but I did find that Reef Radiance is releasing the Lumentek Pro Series Leds August 10 which is suppose to be fully programmable so I'm going to wait until it's released to find out more. The programmable piece is very appealing to me but I want the better light so if anyone has any insite I would be happy to listen. Also I have a 65g so I'm thinking I would need two lights. Is this right?
