My 29g biocube currently has a DIY LED upgrade connected to a bluefish controller that the previous owner put in. I have no info on what leds where used. The white channel has been having issues and after the new year I'm thinking about getting some new lights.

I currently have a Duncan, some zoa's, clove polyps, and BA's. Eventually I may add an sps of some sort toward the top of the tank. I want to get a robo-tank controller so I'm thinking about taking off the lid and using nicrew lights.

The question is should I buy one large light like the 150, or two smaller lights like the 50? Would either option be enough? I'm open to other suggestions that are reef pi compatible but I probably won't be able to drop $400+ on a kesil.

The biggest issue is I just don't know what I'm replacing so I'm having a hard time comparing options.

If you are looking for a good light that is proven to grow coral of all types but also not too expensive, I would go with the AI Prime for your tank. Very good light.

Also, options like black boxes from amazon are a good choice but have some downsides to them.

I really like the primes. Especially the one with the moonlight channel. I've never seen an option to control them externally though. Maybe with modern lights that's just not as useful.

The nicrew 150 is probably overkill for a 29 biocube. If you only have some softies and a few SPS you could get away with an AI prime or one nicrew 100 watt.
