Hi, I've been researching brown diatoms issue, and fully understand its part of cycling process (my tank is just 6 weeks old), read lots that say some Rowaphos (which I am now using), but can't recall or find what best options were regarding lighting (should I reduce to say 5-6 hours and use mostly or all Blue etc, or totally different). Thanks for advice.

As a side note, just looking at prices of powder bluel tangs reminded me of diving in the madlives, heres a couple of pictures, (probably worth a few quid that bundle, should have taken my fishing net

I am one to let it work it’s course. Rowaphos will remove silicates which are typically found in sand and the diatoms use them to grow. But you need to watch your po4 using this if you plan on adding corals. And those are powder blue tangs but also worth some $$$. Nice pics!!!

I should have been more precise, for lighting, it’s your call. I tend to like to set up my lighting schedule during the cycle. Whatever will grow in there later will grow in their now and it’s easier to tackle in the beginning. But that’s just my method.
