I am brand new to reef keeping. That being said I already can tell that with the 3 corals I have in my 90g tank I am going to want more. I currently have a 4 x 54w HOT5 fixture that most of the LFS near my have said will be fine for beginner corals. What would you suggest as far as better lighting for my tank? I think I would like to go LED but without breaking the bank, is that possible? Any lighting advice would be great thanks!

4 Lamp HO T-5 is good enough for most Corals. Maybe upgrade to a 6 lamp unit if you plan on SPS. Mostly using Blue lamps and one 12k lamp.
LED's still cost a pretty penny compared to T5's.

Good to know!! I actually have a 2nd HOT5 fixture that is 2 bulb and 24 inches. Would there be any benefit to running this 2nd fixture along with my 48 inch? If so would I want to run it with my atintics or my whites?

You could run it, won't hurt anything, it would be more for higher lighting needs corals at this time. I'd run em with Blues and actinics.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
