i have a set time that I leave my lights on during the day and at night. From 6am-6pm and then I turn on my blue lights till 6am. My question is should I turn off the lights completely when I go to bed bc when I turn on the blue lights that's when my clowns fight like crazy and during the day the are friends and act like they don't have any issues with each other. I also have a BTA in the tank also. I know they mostly get there food from the lighting and my weekly feeding and I don't want to loose my BTA bc my clowns act crazy when the blue lights are on. Any advice would be nice.

I try to mimic the natural cycle as much as possible. I run my blues at low levels for 14 hours and gradually ramp up. I run my whites for only 10 hours and also start at low levels and gradually ramp up. I only run my peak lighting for a few hours. For night viewing, I use a red light that I control by switch but shuts off after midnight in case I leave it on. I also run a blue and green LED at the minimal setting for a moon light but I am still working to improve on this part.

I do think the fish need that lights out period just like we do. I can tell if its causing harm though as others do it too.
