The used system I picked up has two maxspect R420R 120W 16000K lights. These are on a standard 6 ft by 18 in 125 gallon tank. Aside from the dark spot in the middle, they make a disco effect that I really do not like. I realize these will grow coral, but I cannot take it. I reprogrammed to the preset to see if it would improve, and it did a bit, but is still too crazy for me. I am thinking these are going to be sold, or possibly I will retain one for a coral QT tank unless I can fix it.

1) Does anyone know how to fix this?
2) What are recommendations for lights that do not do this. Criteria for lighting I want include the following ; Looks like daylight, ramps up and down on the cycle, can sustain aquarium coral life. I do have an apex which may give the kessils an advantage, but I am open to anything as long as it works. I am leaning towards LED just because it is less cumbersome.

Black Friday is coming so if I know what I am looking for I should get a good deal on it soon.

What I ended up with after trying a few other popular brands.

A quote from their site which I thought of after reading your post.
Our Reflectors vs Most Current LED Lenses

When it comes to maintaining light intensity for deep tanks, most current LED Lenses fall short. For tall and short tanks, these type of lens may even cause a “Disco Effect” due to the way multiple LED light colors are blended by the lenses. Our metal coated high performance LED reflector mimics the reflective performance of parabolic Metal Halide reflectors reflecting 99% of light. This type of reflector design maximizes light efficiency, increases light spread, optimally blends LED colors, and minimizes light loss the deeper light penetrates.
