Hi everyone! I am looking into getting new lights. Ive been told Eco Tech Radions and Kessils are some of the best. Ive got mostly softies in my tank with the exception of bird of paradise. Im currently using current marine orbit pro that ive had for over a year. Corals are good, not unhealthy but I am missing that color potential for them and fullness in some of them. Im saving up for lights but just wanted some input. Ive seen radions for sale used for about $300 which seems pretty good considering they are $400+ for new. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful! Thank you!

You can't go wrong with radions, AI, kessil, even black box. Also, keep an eye on consistent chemistry, that has a lot to do with color as well.

I used an AP700 with T5's. My favorite combination :)

I was eyeballing the 360xs to replace my two maxspect's which do not even illuminate the middle of the tank. Holding off as there has not been a sale, not apex ready (yet), and did not seem to really have the 25% output increase. I did not really consider the ap700s for a 6 ft tank as I could not figure out how to make it happen with two, and three seemed excessive. As I thought about it, I also thought some T5 would not be a bad idea but I was not sure how to put it all together so it was not a junky mess. This lighting business is enough to drive a person crazy trying to balance not buying junk and not paying too much for hype.

Are your 700's separate, in one of those hybrid fixtures (they seem to only hold the pucks as far as I can tell), or all retrofitted into a hood?

The AP700 has two led pucks, and then the t5's was its own fixture. The ap700 bolted to the t5 fixture and I hung the whole thing from the ceiling.

That looks really nice. I did not think there was that much space in-between the T5s. It looks like you have a wider tank than my skinny 125 but I could probably get by with one bulb on each side. I was looking at the 400 dollar hybrid fixtures and putting the pucks in. Now the 700 appears to be an option. Thanks for the pics, it looks much better than I pictured it in my mind.

You did not ask, but I also like sand as it just seems like a more realistic environment. In the areas where my sand got blown out I put in crushed seashell and it stays put. But if you don't mind the bare spot it is fun to look up when in the cabinet.

I did the same thing with my ap700. I have the ap700 with the Aquatic Life T5 hybrid set up and I LOVE it. My corals really like the T5 supplementation and I still get the infamous Kessil shimmer. The ap700 is a great light and has great app features. I would definitely get this light again. I think that supplementing it with T5's are the best combo available.
