So over the past year I have slowly building my tank. I feel it's in pretty good shape but still stuff is not right. I have been fighting diatoms for months. I switched my lights after Xmas from China black box to a maxspect razor t5 hybrid. Not sure if I should dial back the lights or leave as is. My corals don't die but they don't grow much either. Currently my maxspect are on for 12 hours and peak for 6 hours with the t5 going 2 bulbs for 1 hour during peak then 4 bulbs for 4 hours during peak then back down to 2 bulbs for the last hour of peak.

I’m going to say it’s not the lights.

I’d go with stability. The white rocks.

The white rocks were just added but the diatoms had already beed going on for months.

Understood. But there it still disrupted stability.
The diatom problem may have been an issue as well.
Most of what I see in tank are generalist corals. So 80-to several hundred par.

Not sure what’s up with the acan.
I’m horrible at those. The only success I’ve ever had with them isn’t to not ever move them for months at a time

How did you get diatoms ?
How did you solve it.

The only way to really adjust the light correctly would be to use a meter or slowly change them.
Do you suspect too much or too little light ?
