New to the reef aquarium world. What the most popular lighting for a 75 gallon reef tank? Using a Fluval now. Feel like I need something better

Being 4 feet long .
I’m not up to date on leds or how many are needed to light it properly .
once upon a time a 48” long tank would need 3 fixtures or 1 per 16”-18”

What are your stocking plans?

Fish only, Softies, LPS, SPS, they all have different lighting requirements.
Plan is a mixture of corals. Have one gobie and a pistol shrimp. Don’t really want fish.
6 bulb t5 fixtures will fit nicely over a 75
awesome. Thanks will do some shopping

You didn't mention a budget for lights and price for a 4' 75g can be all over the place.

I have a Reefbreeders Photon 48 V2+ over my 75g reef. I like the light a lot and it will give you the flexibility to put in anything you would want to keep.

true led and t5 can look very different and each led looks different than other leds for the most part. ie Kessil for shimmer and ecotech for ab+ spectrum etc

t5 is a nice blanket of light and can be used in conjunction with leds as well, so budget is key too

Ok great. That sounds perfect. I will def check that out. Thanks. Really appreciate it. Gotta be honest. It’s a bit overwhelming getting started.

Well it depends really.

I personally like T5's, cheaper then LED's to setup, but there is yearly bulb replacement costs.

Most tanks these days are lit with LED's, and can be very costly to setup, but there is no yearly replacement costs.

T5's you are stuck to a lighting "scheme", where LED's can be changed whenever you want.

The new "trend" is to use T5's with supplemental LED's.

Thanks. Appreciate the input.

I’ve never used anything other than t5’s

there isn’t anything I can’t keep under them .
but there is a extra yearly cost of bulb replacement .
I personally don’t like the look of leds but that’s only based on personal preference .

I do have 3 black boxes I got with the purchase of my recent tank but haven’t used them .

think of what you want to stock in terms of corals .
and what you like to look at
