Depends what you're keeping. For a 55 gallon tank, I'd recommend a four bulb t5ho fixture which would be 156 watts using 36" bulbs or two "black box" led fixtures, which you'll probably never run above 50% power so..... 120 watts for sps corals (eventually) or more likely, 75 watts total for soft corals.
