Hi guys just wondering about my lighting. Usually i ramp blues to 100% over 2-3 hours then ramp whites to 25-30% over 40 mins or so then leave then ramp whites down and then blues.

Just thinking though. Since my tank is next to a window and it gets nice lighting. Is it viable to only run my blues ( ramp up and down) and let the natural sun act as the white lighting? Or will that not be healthy for the fish? I know corals will be fine with that.

In the photo the blues are running 100% after ramping them up this morning. That’s all natural light doing the rest. What do you guys think?

Sunlight, even direct sunlight through a widow isn't very high PAR, especially early in the morning or later in the afternoon. It also has the ability to overheat your water given enough time. It can also contribute to algae growth in the tank. I think most reefers try to avoid sunlight.
