For the last few weeks, my male lightning maroon has been acting likes it's hosting my Squamosa clam. It constantly hangs around it's mantle, and even occasionally chases smaller fish away. Anyone seen this before? It seems to have coincided with the LTA that the female guards deciding to walk around the tank lately. The 2 clowns are not fighting at all, but the male seems to REALLY like the clam.

He may kill it.
I don't think so. He's not violent with it at all, not nipping, and it's usually fully open when he's around. It wasn't today when I took the picture because I had just messed with the lights trying to get a better picture, and that caused the clam to retract a bit.

What makes you say that?

female clowns will always dominate the male. she will let him around when she is looking to mate. he needs to prove his worth to her. need to give him, his own anemone, red bubble tip my personal choice, if he hangs around that clam long enough, it may stress and die

That's a great picture

clowns will literally live in anything...give it another nem, or move the clam somewhere else so that he doesn't keep bothering it.

I saw a picture of a pair of clowns inside a clam a few years ago. Yes, inside the incurrent siphon. There is a risk of the clowns harming the clam, but there is also a risk of the clam clamping down on the clown. If it was my tank, I wouldn't worry about it unless I saw trouble beginning.

I have 2 Cinnamon Clowns in my tank and one is being hosted by what was sold as and appears to be a condy nem and the other tried my clam for a bit but then settled on some Pearl Bubble Coral
