So I have my lights on now and I’d like to say I can already tell a difference. The leds I previously was using just didn’t cut it. My question now is where should I point my second power head. The one on the right is a wave maker and I don’t wanna move it. The one on the right is 245gph but I have one the same size that’s but is 425 gph. Kinda just wanting thoughts for Those that have similar tanks. Thanks in advance! New to posting stuff still but I figured if I’m doing something wrong I can at least get some help.

I’m also thinking about taking out a couple of rock in this tank to take the rock wall aspect of it. Also might help flow from behind

What would I do?
I would put the new one opposite the one on the right. I would have them both come on various times per day. Something like this with some over lap at times.

R on 7:00 to 8:00
L on 7:45 to 8:45
R on 8:30 to 10:30
L on 10:15 to 11:15
R on 11:15 to 12:15
L on 12:00 to 1:00

ect........

Honestly, don’t over think flow.

GPH is just a general guideline. Avoid dead spots, and keep current randomized and you won’t have problems.

The schedule mentioned by lapin in the post above mine would work just fine for producing random flow.

The best way to tune flow is to observe the polyps of your corals. They should gently sway and pulse in the current. This is true regardless of the type of corals you have in your tank. It’ll take more flow to make an SPS coral’s polyps gently roll than an LPS coral. As corals grow and block more flow, you’ll have to readjust occasionally and maybe add more powerheads in the future.

With nothing but live rock in your tank, you won’t need much flow at all, just enough to keep things mixed a little bit.

Little bit of an update after a water change yesterday. The flow is way better now that I switched the sides on the power heads. The tank all together is now properly functioning I’d like to believe. Will get to finally move my toadstool and frogspawn into the tank after a long cycle on this tank.
