im just curious to know how many people have some sort of lights on at night or keep tank completely dark until morning? I was just thinking about all the times I have traveled and was on the beach at night. Between the moon and the stars there seemed to be pretty good lighting. Granted maybe not enough to penetrate the water to actually be able to see. I would like to see what goes on in my tank at night. Just bought the hydra 52hd’s and I’m still learning them. I have them on a preset mode and lights go out completely at night. I also have them in acclimate mode. Not sure it’s even working. Anyway just curious as to what others may do also.

I keep my red spectrum LED's going at 5-10%; my understanding is that red light gets filtered out by saltwater, so many organisms don't "see" it. I've certainly seem corals and bristle worms act as if the lights were off, and I can still see what's going on in the tank.

Well I only get home at around 6 to 6.30 at night so I have set my cycle to start much later in the day and only switching off around 8pm at night. My Radion also have a moonlight setting which does its own thing.

I have all my lights off at night, I prefer almost complete darkness at night as I feel its more natural for the animals. Moonlight doesn't really penetrate the water in the ocean, if you look at dive videos taken at night, other then the lights from the divers its pretty much pitch black.

I’ve done many dives in full moon conditions at 10 feet where you could easily do the dive without a flashlight because it was bright enough to see.

The videos are misleading because the camera adjusts shutter speed and aperture based on the high intensity diving lights.

On my 180, I’ll be running 3x 3w royal blues on a moon cycle through my controller (coralux storm).
