I decided in my new tank to have a trigger fish and an angelfish. So will be fish only. I had in my plans 2 AI hydra 32. Is that overkill for fish only? I don’t want to waste money, is a more basic light fine for no coral? If so any recommendations?

my thoughts...
as I have thought about this a few times I really want a largish (300+ gal) FOWLR some day.
if you are 100% sure you will not change your tank to a reef then yeah 2x AI 32 is prob overkill. dont get me wrong you can run modified ( lower par ) profiles that would look nice but needed NO not at all.

a cheaper option and still could grow corals if you ever go that way down the road is the noopsyce K7 pro II there like AI hydra but with out the fancy app.

but any light will do. if it dont have a controller put it on a timer and your good to go. :D

Awesome. Thanks all for the info. Glad I’m not throwing 700 bucks into lights I don’t need lol

You could even use a Lunar Bar as well!

yeah I was thinking something like that could work its a shame that build my LED stopped making aquarium lighting. they make bassilly LED version of T5 bulbs but adjustable. make in the US and high quality.

here is a link to the K7 pro 2s
but if you wanted you could even go cheaper.

I like the fluval sea, theyre relatively cheap but have all the nice features. And if you ever want to keep coral they’ll easily support softies and lps.
