So I have had my 40 gallon breeder set up for about 7 months and I’ve had extremely fast growth with 3x Ai Prime HD’s. I am moving to a new townhouse in July so I decided I would upgrade while I can.

my question is should I go for a 4th AI prime for the 75 gallon or should i spend the money and go for two Radion XR 15 g5.

I’m looking for the most light coverage in the tank as I have lots of sps. I would also like to keep costs down and spend money on equipment but would be willing to get the g5’s

here is a pic of my 40 breeder.

If you have a recipe that works I wouldn’t change it, adding the 4th lights seems the most cost effective and your tank seems to be happy with them. Changing lights will set your tank back.

Adding 1 more AI Prime should cover the added width (1 per ft of tank). And the tanks are the same depth. The only concern I would see is the height. The 75g is roughly 5 inches taller.

The added depth shouldn't be a concern. If you don't see the same growth, you man need to either move the coral up 5 inches, or the lights down a few inches. I always prefer Radions, but if the Primes are working, I would save the money and just get the 1 new one.

Here is an article where I give some other thoughts on lighting/
