Not including the refugium, if the tank were corals only, no fish, would you leave the lights on continuously or do corals “need” a period of darkness?

Just curious more than anything. Do frag tank lights run 24/7?

Can growth be increased by continuous light?

Thanks

No they need a dark period. Leaving lights on 24/7 you’d also run into algae issues in sure

Everything requires a rest period, ill never find it but there was study done in japan that studied just this on house plants.

After x time any plant that did not receive a required rest period eventually wilted and died even when given the remainder of its nutrients and water needs.

dark phase is essential for photosynthesis, otherwise it will stop happening, and the organism will die
