I just completed a three day total blackout for dinos in my shallow acro dominated lagoon. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to ramp the lights back to normal after completing it or not? Yesterday was the first day of lights on again and I ran a ramp up for three hours and then full power for about two hours before I modified my
schedule to set it to ramp down quickly and only run about four hours the next day (today).

Should I ramp them up to not shock them or is it better to just get them bathed in light again?

I did a bad thing and changed two things at once by going from a Kessil a360x at 100% at 8” to adding a hybrid T5 fixture and raising it all to 24” to continue to have a top-down look. That started about a week before I decided to do the blackout and I was ramping up the T5s slowly. Just as some more background info in case it affects the suggestions.

Id say a ramp would be best for the Acros. Just imagine you being in a cave with no light for 3 days and then come out at High noon and look at the sun.

Maybe 4-5 days.

I know that corals in the wild might not get sun light for days. But i'd say its way different in closed off system.

Thanks. I’ll try that.

Any other opinions out there while I’m doing the ramp up?

Also what is a ramp up? Haha. As in should I just shorten the photoperiod or do I need to drop the intensity and leave photo period the same?
