Ok so I moved my reef tank to the family room. I currently have T247 ocean revive lights. My wife says the blue is bothering her eyes and wants them off. I am going to try and close the floating top in to stop the light from leaking out. Would I be better to go with something else like T5 that aren’t so blue but have the spectrum I need with great growth?

Once she is set on she doesn't like something your kind of out of luck buddy. You should probably talk to her see what she really wants you to do.
Maybe she just wants the space for a new buffet table. Lol.

You can change your light settings to when she is not around maybe.

Try enclosing the lights to the tank with cardboard to test and see if that helps. If it does then great just build a canopy. If not, then I don’t know what to tell you.

What’s the old saying? Happy wife, happy life. ;)

If it's purely an issue of the blue coloration, turn up the white channel (isn't going to hurt your inhabitants). If it is a light creep issue, time for a canopy.

I was thinking that too. Leds will have a lot cheaper color customization than t5 and finding bulb combos she likes. Just turn up the whites. As for light spill t5 have a lot more than leds, so if that’s the issue you will have to lower either one or have a canopy.
