What is the obsession with running just blue lights? To me it makes it hard to see our tank! Or is that because all I have seen is just pictures, and it's better in person.

It's way better in person. And even better yet if you have yellow tinted glasses. Many corals fluoresce light when given a lot of blue spectrum. And that is better seen with yellow tinted glasses.

Blue is what the zooxanthellae inside the coral uses for photosynthesis. White light has red in it and that is what most algae uses for photosynthesis.

Coral color pop and reduction in unwanted algae. It is also mimicking natural light at depth. The red spectrum is completely gone by about 60 ft.

Blue light is just. . . better.

I tired to deny it, I TRIED!!! But corals look better and look happier.

As said above, other spectrums get filtered out more quickly at depth. . . also there have been studies/research done on what spectrums corals, zooxanthella and chlorophyll use that indicate blue is best (it's more complicated than that but basically. . . )

My opinion is that properly selected heathy coral in a thriving reef tank look awesome in what I call a blue daylight spectrum. This is straight cell phone no filters
