Is a 70w halide bulb brighter than 2-27w power compacts????

a MH will put out more par the the pc will ever put out. it depands on what you are looking to keep. if your looking to keep sps's them yes i would change out the pc lights. if just looking for a brighter view its hard to say off hand , but still the HM would problem send light deeper into the tank over all.

yes the 70w is brighter than the 2x27w PCs. Is it better??? The answer to that question depends on your setup, ie what are you keeping, tank demensions, desired power consumption, etc. Overall, I am a big fan of MH and I hate PCs unless they are over FO, FOWLR, or small tanks that you can not fit any other light on.
