I went to Home Depot tonight and was looking at their T5 and led lights and wanted to know if either of these would work on a 75 gal tank

If you were just doing a FOWLR tank I'd say sure. If you're doing a coral reef tank I'd say most likely not as these probably dont hit the correct spectrum for coral photosynthesis.

I don't know the prices of those fixtures but if you're looking for something reasonably priced from the start, you could look at a cheaper T5 fixture like this AgroBrite. The four bulb and 6 bulb would both fit over a standard 75. https://www.amazon.com/Agrobrite-FLT46-Fluorescent-Light-System/dp/B005H1C74O/ref=sr_1_23_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1527817207&sr=8-23-spons&keywords=agrobrite+t5+48&th=1 Than of Tidal Gardens has some reviews of them on YouTube and you can swap out the bulbs for ATI or Giesemann.

Eh? If it were me knowing the importance of lighting especially with coral and coral growth. I would save a little more and get good lights. IMO

Thanks for catching me. I was assuming the OP is aware of more of the lighting options and was just wondering if the lights in the original post would work. After looking at his other threads, that's likely not true.

@Tim Cuthbert, what are you looking to keep in the tank? Two Kessil A360WEs would cover that tank nicely, provide a lot of functionality, and would be capable of providing enough PAR for any corals. Other options would be two AI Hydra 26s or two Radion XR15W G4 Pros. I use AI lights and really like their mobile app for managing acclimation modes and checking on the schedule. More than once I've pulled out my phone and compared schedules with someone at my LFS. If you want a more diffused, less disco ball look, then Kessil or Radion with diffusers may be the way to go. You'll also have to consider shadowing. And if this is a concern, there's a T5 hybrid fixture by AquaticLife that will support any of the LEDs mentioned above while adding four T5s to the outer front and back edge of your tank.
