Don't shoot me for being tight , I have been left pottless due to covid so am skint ,my v2 illuminaire900 is breaking down ,one bank of blues are dead , what are good cheaper lights for mixed reef...even unbranded if you've had experience ps 3ft open top tank

I have 2 Orphek V4 Gen2 compacts if you're still looking. I was keeping them in hopes of building another reef but now more importantly I'm trying not to lose my car. Personally, I had a great experience with them they were fantastic I had Kessil's beforehand and they were no comparison in color or coral growth!

I feel your pain, hence asking for cheaper alternatives, cant afford jack at the moment ha , I shall investigate further cheers

Visparspectra 165w each one good for 24”x24”x24” cube.
Amazon, I paid $150 Canadian delivered.
Have three working 5 years.

Hijacking your thread Clanger as I’m in a similar boat money wise but new to all this. I have a second hand set up that came with a fluval aqua sky led bar which is fine for the moment as I just have a couple of clowns but I want to have soft corals eventually.
My tank is 90 x 30x 40 cm so any recommendations would be great. Especially any that are programmable by apps.

They have had a rave review on brs TV against 3 other "black boxes" ,of course they say cheap could be false economy, but it could also be worth the risk esp when money is so tight , of course I would love ai ,kessil etc ,but no money ,I for one is going to take your and brs advice and go for it , nb they reccomend to mount them high , so let's give it ago ,many thanks buddy

Just keep in mind these lights can push a TON of PAR.
At 14” above the water, blue 30%, gives PAR measures at the surface of 250-300, 12” down 140-175, bottom 75-100, corners 50. So very easy to fry stuff. Start low, over time, bump 5% a month until everyone looks happy.
Mix in whatever white looks good to you.
