How long should i let newly mixed limewater settle? It seems if i use it the next day there are still foggy particles in it. But when i wait a week its clear.

I think that overnight is good. A few very fine particles are not an issue.

In general, settling times may vary depending on the particle size of the product you are using.

Thanks ill use it after 24 hours or so. I just dont want to have an alk spike, as corals are doing so well now with the new halides! Currently im dosing your two part waiting for it to settle out, but would rather use limewater as it cant raise sodium and chloride like 2 part.

Like you, I found that after 24 hrs. the saturated solution is still a bit milky.

FWIW - I let mine sit for ~3 days and it's usually quite clear by then (either Ms Wages or Two Little Fishies).

When you are saying clear, are you referring to the top of the limewater or the middle? Because the top pretty much always stays milky.

The middle. The top forms a crust in my 45 gallon container.

Clear just under the surface to just above the sediment on the bottom.

The surface will always have some 'scum' (calcium carbonate formed from the reaction with CO2 in the air). To prevent this as much as possible, it's recommended to store the freshly made saturated kalkwasser in a sealed container.
