Randy, id like to setup a limewater system like you have.

Ill use a rubbermaid trash can. What float switch and pump do you use?

I use a Reef Filler pump. Champion lighting sells them in various flow rates. pick one that is above you daily evaporation rate maximum.

It is noisy. If noise is a concern, a peristaltic pump might be a better choice.

For a float switch, I use Omega Engineering LV-1201:

http://www.omega.com/pptst/LV1100_1200.html

After looking at those i see why you use them! Seem great.

That float switch seems like it will never fail. Are you using metal in your tank? How does a non magnetic switch turn the pump on and off?

And I definitely like that pump is adjustable and diaphragmatic.

Never had issues?

The only issues are the the pumps can clog after a while (more than a year). Running some acid through it cleans it out.

The float switch moves up and down based on the water volume. The nonmagnestic aspect is unimportant to us, but is to allow it is solutions of metallic particles, etc. One thing I like is you can wire the pump directly through them, without any sort of intervening electronics.

The LV-1201 is all plastic except the 316 stainless steel arms (rods of metal holding the float), which have been in my tank 20 years. I cannot see the arms, but they work like new.

Im sold for sure. Except how noisy is it? Would it be ok in a living room, or very distracting?

Also why do they mention:

"Noryl (a phenylene oxide based resin), 316SS, EPDM"

Awesome, i guess ill get a peristaltic pump. But which would you get? I was looking at the bubble magnus, but seems cheaply made. And has three dosers, maybe its not good to have three dosers for this purpose.

Do i just plug the peristalitic dosing pump into the valve, or do i have to cut the wires and make the connection?

You'll have to cut the wire to use the float switch I use. Make sure you know what you are doing with electricity.

I don't have a preferred peristaltic pump brand since I've not really compared them.

Ive electrocuted myself 17 times, and they say experience is the best teacher. Lol. No i know how, point of sale to point of sale, neg to neg, and ground. Ever heard of "cold electricty"? Ive tried it before and its very interesting:

Im hoping i can supply all my demand for alk and cal as you do. This way its kind of set and forget.
