limited space for equipment - need solutions/pictures

So, I'm building a chaeto reactor and installing my dosing pump in the next few days.
space is very limited in my stand. i have about a 5.5" x 24" strip of room on the right side.

lets see some pictures of your sump area and how you saved room or crammed everything in.

I've been wondering about this as well. I don't have much room to work with so would like to see how others have overcome this limited estate for equipments.

My old sump, under the 60g cube:

That's an EShopps RS100, 5g ATO reservoir -w- Tunze ATO, SRO1000SSS skimmer, external Iwaki return, BRS mini reactor... it was jammed full, IMHO. Used to have a cheap doser mounted on the right side, but at the point this photo was taken, I had discontinued 2pt in favor of Kalkwasser.

One of the main reasons I sold this system was that it was a PITA to get in and maintain stuff in the sump.

My new sump area:

In a closet, behind the tank. 55g ref/sump, plenty of room, no bending over, working from my knees, easy access... It's a bit narrow, but I'll never do crowded again.

awesome! I wish I had a way to run mine outside of the stand. I already have a 10 gallon ATO sitting next to it that im trying to hide lol

Pick a wall with a closet on the other side. In my case, the only problem is that I had to talk my wife into giving up our coat closet in the entry way. I'm a lucky man... with an understanding wife

Gives you a lot of flexibility in stand design, as well.

I know I've seen some builds where the chaeto reactor is built horizontally and water from a secondary pump flows from the sump through the reactor and the water comes out the other side in the main return section of the sump, so that could be an option too.
