So I was lucky enough to get a hand full of nice corals and frags from a friend who was thinning out his reef. I have them in a 20gal quarantine for now until my 75 is ready. (Maybe a week or two) There is a hammer, frogspawn, BTA, some shrooms, various sps frags and a nice neon green leather or colt (i'm not sure). All are doing well except the leather. It kind of wilted limp after a few hours after it was placed into the 20gal. I have some softies in another tank so i'm used to this behavior from time to time. But it's going on day 5 today and it doesn't look any better. I attached it to a piece of rock with a rubber band. The base is coming apart where the rubber band is. I checked water parameters. Ammonia = 0, pH a little high at 8.3. Everything else in range. I did two 5gal water changes every other day (two so far). Should I not have used a rubber band? How long can a leather stay like this and still recover? Is there a better way to keep it in the quarantine? When I wasn't quarantining corals, I would always just wedged a softie between two rocks and it would start attaching in a few days.
